Source Water Protection Specialist
The Source Water Protection Program is looking for a new team member to fill a vacant position in our Santa Fe office. This position provides technical planning assistance to public drinking water systems and their communities through development of source water assessments, source water planning documents, GIS mapping, environmental reviews, and educational outreach and training. Planning assistance includes delineating source water protection areas, identifying and inventorying potential or actual sources of contamination, analyzing contamination risk, and working with systems to develop source water protection strategies.
The ideal candidate will have a broad range of skills and experiences in groundwater and surface water resources and the issues in New Mexico that can affect source water quality and quantity. A background that includes community outreach, planning, technical writing, and Geographic Information System mapping is desirable.
