Organizational​ ​Summary:​ ​ ​The mission of the Recuerda a César Chávez Committee (RCCC) is
to educate our youth and communities about the legacy, life and work of the great American civil
rights leader, César Chávez and the farmworker movement. We do this by promoting universal
values and timeless vision for a better world and engaging our communities in the spirit of
service. Our vision is a community that knows its history, celebrates together, understands the
importance of service and commitment to the land, is actively engaged in improving the life
opportunities of its people, and strives for justice for all.
Description:​ The Day of Service Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the 2018 Cesar
Chavez Day of Service & Learning and associated programs, which aims to teach youth about
César Chávez’s legacy and inspire a new and existing generation to engage and actively
participate in their communities.

Job​ ​Activities
➢ Organize the César Chávez Day of Service & Learning (DOS) held on April 5
th
, 2018.
➢ Plan, facilitate and attend weekly subcommittee meetings and provide activity reports
during the larger committee meetings.
➢ Lead efforts to contact APS schools, recruit classes for the DOS, and maintain
communication with teachers and staff throughout the process.
➢ Work with the subcommittee to coordinate educational classroom presentations to various
schools prior to the DOS.
➢ Recruit diverse volunteers to join the DOS and actively participate in the event planning
and implementation.

➢ Identify and coordinate workshop activity stations with community organizations,
individuals and leaders for the DOS that align with RCCC’s mission. Ensure an ongoing
list of needed supplies.
➢ Procuring and communicating with bus companies and food vendors for the Day of
Service.
➢ Maintain an organized budget; identifying workshop materials needed, transportation
costs and food costs.
➢ Develop and maintain a database for volunteers and participants in the DOS.
➢ Delegate responsibilities regarding logistics, media, outreach and volunteer recruitment to
various subcommittee members.
➢ Collaborate with Event Coordinator to assist with media outreach about the DOS,
including website and Facebook management.
