The Water Authority is looking for an environmental educator to work as a contractor as
part of our education and outreach program. Our education program is one component of
a larger conservation strategy aimed at long-term sustainability of our water resources here
in Albuquerque. This person would have flexible hours and would work roughly 10 -15
hours per week. Job responsibilities include conducting field trips with classes of fourth
graders through the bosque down to the river while implementing curriculum developed by
the Water Authority. This educator will be responsible for leading 1-2 field trips per week.
Field trips run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and meet at the following specified locations where
we utilize the classroom facilities: The Rio Grande Nature Center, The Botanic Gardens,
and the National Hispanic Cultural Center. In addition, the educator will schedule and
present 100 educational, hands-on presentations in classrooms and/or at public events
throughout the school year. These activities have been designed for students in grades 1-
12. The educator will receive training in how to implement each activity, as well as all of the
materials needed. The educator will work as part of a team and will be expected to attend
occasional trainings, meetings, and collaborative planning sessions. The position would be
for the 2018-2019 school year.
