Selectees will participate in various aspects of long-term biological studies.For New Mexico positions:- Conducts presence/absence surveys and nest monitoring for the Southwestern willow flycatcher and yellow-billed cuckoo within the Rio Grande Basin of New Mexico.- Performs other project specific duties as needed, including vegetation surveys and radio telemetry.- Assists Reclamation staff in the collection of baseline data and monitoring to ensure compliance with environmental statutes.- Are assigned to crews supervised by Reclamation personnel.- May assume some additional responsibility as a crew leader, making minor project related decisions in the absence of the Supervisor.For Montana positions:- Conducts radio telemetry and netting surveys via boat for native fishes of the Lower Yellowstone River, MT.- May assume some additional responsibility as a crew leader, making minor project related decisions in the absence of the Supervisor.Training will be provided cooperatively by Reclamation and the US Fish and Wildlife service. Individuals operating government owned vehicles will be required to take a defensive driving course. Individuals operating government owned boats will be required to take a Motorboat Operator Certification Course. Both will be provided upon start of duty.A valid driver’s license is required and will need to be submitted by the date of selection.Travel RequiredNot required
